Powerpack shipping instructions

Do not ship if the powerpack is swollen, leaking or has physically damaged battery cells. Do not send other unsafe or recalled batteries; contact us before arranging transport.

One machine with one powerpack

For service, securely install the intact powerpack on its compatible machine, switch it off and protect it against accidental activation. A powerpack lying next to the machine is not installed.

With all batteries securely installed in their equipment, use UN3481, PI 967 Section II. No UN3481 battery mark is required under the standard small-shipment exception for a shipment of up to two parcels with no more than two installed batteries per parcel and no loose powerpacks. A shipping provider can still require this mark; follow the rules of the service you choose. Other packing and safety requirements still apply.

No dangerous-goods declaration is required under Section II. Confirm that your carrier accepts used equipment sent for repair.

Packing the parcel

  1. Place the powerpack and its compatible tattoo machine in the same rigid outer parcel.
  2. If you include loose spare powerpacks, include no more than three powerpacks total per compatible machine, counting any installed powerpack.
  3. Switch the equipment off and protect it against accidental activation. Protect exposed contacts against short circuits. Pack spare powerpacks individually, secure all contents and prevent movement or contact between packs.
  4. Reduce charge to at most 30% before packing.

Confirm with the carrier

A powerpack packed separately alongside its compatible machine uses UN3481, PI 966 Section II. A UN3481 battery mark is required, even for one powerpack. The air waybill must state: Lithium ion batteries in compliance with Section II of PI 966.

If all batteries are installed but the shipment exceeds the marking-exemption limits above, a UN3481 battery mark is required. The air waybill must state: Lithium ion batteries in compliance with Section II of PI 967.

Sending used equipment from the USA

USPS does not accept used equipment containing lithium batteries in international mail, even with the battery installed. For used equipment sent from the USA, choose another carrier that accepts your shipment.

Customs and service reference

Include your service or return reference inside the parcel. For repair, mark the parcel RETURN / REPAIR. Use a low but justified customs value; do not declare zero or mark the shipment as a gift.

For shipments from outside the EU, ask your carrier for a commercial invoice and the appropriate temporary-export/repair procedure.

Additional packing limits

Count installed powerpacks within the three-pack limit. Section II allows at most 5 kg net batteries per parcel, 100 Wh per battery and 20 Wh per cell. Use tested battery types and packaging capable of the required drop and stacking tests. Confirm acceptance and packing with your carrier.
